Obituary
Mr. Levi S. Folsom The death of Levi S. Folsom occurred shortly after midnight Tuesday morning at the home of his son, Lindley H. Folsom, on Lower Main street after an illness of a few days. Mr. Folsom, whose home is at Kineo, has spent the winter months in Dexter for several years past and had been at his son's home a couple of weeks when he was taken sick. Pneumonia developed and was the cause of his death. Mr. Folsom was born in Fairfield January 21, 1838, and was the son of Joshua and Martha (Smith) Folsom. In 1865 he was united in marriage with Miss Evelyn Packard of Blanchard, whose death occurred sixteen years ago. To them were born four sons and two daughters, one daughter passing away at the age of fifteen. Soon after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Folsom removed to New Jersey, where they made their home for several years. On their return to Maine they settled in Monson, where he engaged in farming, later removing to Moosehead lake, where he cleared up a farm on the shore of the lake, six miles above Kineo. He had a wide acquaintance among sportsmen and woodsmen who frequented the Moosehead region, acting as guide for many parties of sportsmen on their trips into the Northern Maine wilderness. Mr. Folsom was a man of quiet, retiring disposition, but will be remembered by those who had the pleasure of knowing him as one who was al- ways ready and willing to be of service to those about him. Funeral services will take place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Folsom, at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Burial will be in the family lot in the Monson cemetery. Mr. Folsom leaves four sons, Lindley H., Joseph P., Omar J. and Oliver E., and one daughter, Mrs. George Huff, and eight grandchildren. A brother, Lindley H. Folsom of Greenville, also survives.
