Obituary
John Earle Bennett John Earle Bennett passed away at his home in Dexter early Thursday morning, October 24, after a brief illness from pneumonia following influenza. Earle was born in Sangerville on January the 7th, 1894, the son of Ernest and Florence (Cole) Bennett, and always lived at home until he entered Fay & Scott's machine shop a few years ago, where he finished learning his trade last month. Here as everywhere he endeared himself to his associates, being a clean, bright, upright, Christian young man of a happy and social, disposition. He was a member of the Christian Endeavor Society of Silver's Mills and while at Dexter attended the Congregational church. He was a member of South Sangerville grange and will be greatly missed in that order as well as in all circles where he was well and favorably known. On March 31, 1918, he was united in marriage to Miss Charlotte Longden of New York, who survives him. Besides his wife he leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Bennett of Sangerville, his sisters, Mrs. Mildred Edgecomb of Dexter, and Mrs. Esther Burton of Sangerville and three brothers, Stanley, Robert and Norris Bennett of Sangerville, with many other relatives and a host of friends, who realize that the family and the community have sustained a great and irreparable loss. The youngest sister, Mrs. Esther Burton, is at this writing lying critically ill with pneumonia at her home in Sangerville. Earle was also a member of Co. M, Third Maine Infantry recently organized in Dexter. A few years ago he had a long and painful illness from the effects of which, never fully recovered, but which he bore with great patience and fortitude. The sympathy of all is extended to those who held him dear. The funeral was private and interment was made at Sand Hill, Dover.
