Obituary
Mrs. Alba J. French Mrs. Mary French, wife of Alba French, one of Dexter's selectmen, are learning with deep sorrow of her passing away at her home on lower Main street, after a brief illness from pneumonia. Mrs. French has not enjoyed the best of health for the past few years, and this fact was probably due to her inability to withstand the attack of pneumonia. Her condition was improved on Monday, but a change suddenly became apparent Monday evening and she passed away a quarter of two o'clock Tuesday morning. Mrs. French was born in Garland about fifty years ago, where she spent the greater part of her early life until her marriage with Mr. French. In her native town with Mr. French she possessed a host of friends, all of whom admired and esteemed the sterling Christian character with which she was endowed. For several years the family has lived in Dexter and here also Mrs. French won for herself the affection of many persons. In a quiet, unostentatious manner, she went about doing good, giving an encouraging word and a cheerful smile to the sick, always an example of Christian womanhood. She will be sadly missed not only by the members of her own home circle, but by the community and especially the residents of the lower Main street section of the town. Mrs. French was interested in the work of the Dexter Methodist church and was a member of Martha Washington Rebekah lodge, No.18, I.O.O.F. She leaves a husband Alba French, a son, Bailey French of Dexter, a brother, Joseph Haskell, of Garland and a sister, Miss Jennie Haskell, of Boston, also many other relatives, whom have the sincere sympathy of Dexter people in this sorrow. Memorial services were held this afternoon at two o'clock.
