Obituary
Augustus Cummings Funeral services for the late Deacon Augustus Cummings were conducted Monday afternoon from the home of the deceased, Rev. H. Lincoln MacKenzie of the Congregational church officiating, assisted by Rev. Mr. Sheaff. The services were attended by a large delegation of members of Penobscot lodge, F. and A. M. and of St. John's Royal Arch chapter of which the deceased was a member. The ritual services of the Masons were carried out. The deceased, who passed away Saturday afternoon has, for practically a life time, been a respected and well-known resident of this town. Deacon Cummings was 79 years of age and for many years he has been a communicant of the Congregational church. In early life he was united in marriage to a Miss Barron and three children, a daugher and two sons were born to them, all of whom, with their mother passed away years ago. Deacon Cummings has been a familiar figure about town and he will be missed by many Dexter people, who admired his sterling character and honesty of purpose. Only distant relatives survive him.
