Obituary
George N. Cyphers Another of Dexter’s well-known citizens, George N. Cyphers, passed away Saturday afternoon, for the past year Mr. Cyphers has been subject to heart disease and it was this that caused his death. He left his home on Prospect street shortly after 3 o’clock, apparently in his usual health. About two hours later, the family becoming solicitous of his welfare and never allowing him long to be out of their of their care, instituted a search. After some little time his body was found in the garden at the Cyphers' residence. A physician was called immediately who pronounced death due to heart failure and said life had been extinct for fully two hours. George Cyphers was born in St. Albans but has been a resident of this town for many years. He was an expert carpenter and contractor until failing health compelled him to desist from this occupation. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, of Plymouth Lodge No. 65, I. 0. 0. F., being a past noble grand of that order for many years. He also was a member of Martha Washington Rebekah lodge and will be greatly missed in church work and lodge room. Mr. Cyphers leaves a wife and a son, Leigh, to whom he has always been a devoted husband and father, a brother residing in Oregon and a sister in St. Albans, besides a large circle of friends and acquaintances who feel his loss deeply. Funeral services were held from the home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. A. B. McAlister officiating. The family have the sympathy of the community in this sorrow.
