Obituary
Mrs. Emma Leonard The remains of a former Dexter resident, Mrs. Emma Leonard, were brought from Fitchburg, Mass., to this town, Saturday, and after a brief service at the undertaking rooms of Hutchinson and Gates, were placed in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery receiving tombs. Friends of Mrs. Leonard assembled at the undertaking rooms, and in the absence of the pastor of the Congregation-al church, of which Mrs. Leonard was a devoted member, the pastor of the First Universalist church, the Rev. Stanley Gates Spear officiated and spoke comforting words. Mrs. Leonard was the widow of the late Kingsley Leonard and her age was about seventy-nine years. Until four years ago she had resided the greater part of her life in Dexter, but owing to failing health, was compelled to relinquish all activities, including the care of her home, and go to Fitchburg, Mass, where she has received the care and thought of her niece. Mrs. Leonard was a member of the Congregational church for a period of forty years and was highly esteemed, possessing many friends in town. She went about doing good, gladly ministering to the sick, the shut-ins and those in need, her character and example, being that of the earnest Christian woman. She is sur- vived by her niece, only.
