The Eastern Gazette 3-8-1917, p.5 Miss Augusta Mae Morrison The community was saddened last Thursday, March 8th, by the news of the death, in Bangor, of Miss Augusta Mae Morrison of this town, after an operation at the Eastern Maine General hospital. Miss Morrison was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Morrison of Dexter and is survived by her parents, a brother, Charles Morrison and a sister, Mrs. Clarence N. Pierce, both of Dexter. She was born in Montecello, but came to Dexter in early life, where she attended the public schools, afterward taking a course in shorthand and typewriting at Mrs. Gilman's school in Bangor. Before her graduation from Mrs. Gilman's school she acted as bookkeeper in offices in Dexter and in Manchester, N. H., and after her graduation was employed by John D. Clark Co. of Bangor, Men's Furnishers and Clothiers, and latter took a position as stenographer at the rooms of the Eastern Trust & Banking Co. Bangor, which position she held at the time of her death. Miss Morrison was 28 years of age and her untimely death is deeply regretted by hosts of friends in Dexter, Bangor, New Hampshire and Massachusetts towns, where she is known. She was a young woman of sunny disposition and in her girlhood united with the Dexter Baptist church where she was an active and faithful member when at home. She made her home during the past few years with her sister, Mrs. Clarence N. Pierce, Forest street, and funeral services were held from the Pierce home Sunday afternoon at 2.30, Rev. George Carlyle Sauer of the First Baptist church, officiating, assisted by Rev. R. L. Olds. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Crawford. The bearers were Alva Shepherd, Leonard Packard, W. E. Haseltine and Theodore Haseltine. Quantities of beautiful floral pieces and loose flowers were sent by friends in Dexter, Bangor and New Hampshire. The remains were placed in Mt. Pleasant receiving tomb. The Eastern Gazette 3-15-1917, p.5
