Obituary
Delavine Jock (Delphine Jacques) Funeral services of Miss Delavine Jock were conducted from St. Ann's Catholic church Saturday morning, Rev. Timothy C. Maney officiating. The services were attended by many young friends and schoolmates of the deceased. The remains were placed in the receiving tomb at Mount Pleasant cemetery. The Eastern Gazette 2-15-1917, p.8 Delphine Jacques The death of Miss Delphine Jacques took place February 7th, after a long illness. She suffered a great deal but was very patient through her sickness, her death coming as a shock to her parents, relatives and friends. She was cared for by her mother and received the best of care. She was a scholar at the Pleasant street school and had many friends. She will be missed by her pastor and her Sunday school class for she was loved by all who knew her. The parents of the deceased wish to thank all neighbors and friends who were so kind during their daughter's illness. The funeral took place at St. Ann's Catholic church Februay 10, Rev. Fr. T. C. Maney officiating. The services were attended by a large number of friends and relatives. Over one hundred Sunday school scholars escorted the remains of the deceased from the house to the church, although it was a very cold morning for little children to be out. The pall bearers were Lawrence Poulin, Percy Dyer, Frank Jock and Torn Ambrose, all cousins of the deceased. The ribbon girls were Misses Agnes Dyer, Ida Lebranch, Florence Clukey and Cecilia Goulette. There were six flower girls, Victoria Mountain, Nathalie Clukey, Mosher Dyer, Virginia Ganeau, Rosie White, Zelma Libby. A team was furnished the girls by Mr. Jacques. It was one of the most impressive funerals that has taken place in the parish for years. Miss Jacques leaves to mourn her loss, besides her parents, three brothers and three sisters, Nora Cousins, Evangelist, Zephinie, Robert, Priscilla and Maxine and many other relatives and friends.
