Obituary
Mrs. Lydia Hill The many friends of Mrs. Lydia G. Hill, widow of the late John M. Hill, were saddened to learn of her death which occurred at the home of her son, Walter E. Hill, on Lower Main street, Friday evening at about 7 o'clock. Mrs. Hill had not been in the best of health for several years, but her condition was not considered serious until last week, when she became ill with the grip and complications fol- lowing caused her death, which came as a shock to all except her immediate family. Lydia G. Lovell was born in Abbot, June 20, 1838 and had she lived until the coming June, would have been 79 years old. She came to Dexter when about 17 years of age and two years later was united in marriage with John M. Hill. To them were born four children, two of whom survive, Walter of Dexter and Eugene Hill of Togus, who have the sympathy of friends in their sorrow. Mrs. Hill was a kind, thoughtful mother and was always interested in the young. people. She was a woman of the highest character and pos-sessed a large circle of friends. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at two o'clock from the home, Rev. Stanley G. Spear officiating., The bearers were Alba J. French, William J. Coughlin, Arthur R. Levenseller and Wilson P. Hamilton. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. Interment was in the receiving tomb at Mt. Pleasant ceme- tery Tuesday forenoon. Her son, Eugene, was unable to be present at the services, arriving in Dexter Monday evening.
