Obituary
JOHN W. CHENEVERT DEXTER - John W. Chenevert, 67, died December 16, 2004 at a Bangor hospital. He was born January 21, 1937 at Melrose, MA, a son of Clarence and Helen (Burdett) Chenevert. He graduated from Melrose (MA) High School, Class of 1955. John moved to Dexter in 1970 and knew that he was here to stay. He worked in several fields but his favorite always involved driving: from stock cars (before he was old enough to have a license) to his repo ramp truck, delivery trucks to school buses, he loved being on the road and meeting new people. Despite what some of his school bus passengers might say, he had a soft spot for young people, ready to champion or chew out, whichever was needed. He was still a counselor, confidante, consoler and cheerleader for many up to the time of his death. John was Past Master of Penobscot Lodge # 39 AF & AM, a past Rainbow dad, Past Patron and current Associate Patron of Wassookeag Chapter #44 OES. He had served on the SAD # 46 School Board until ill health forced him to resign. Above all, John loved his family. In addition to his wife of 22 years, Rebecca (Prescott) of Dexter, he is survived by their combined family of 9 children, Cyndi and husband Lance Legler, and Joy Delvoy, all of Wisconsin, Deborah Dallalis of Bath, Robert and William Beach both of Daytona Beach, FL, Daryl and wife Rhonda Chenevert of Sangerville, Donald Chenevert and his fiance, Stephanie McDermott of Clermont, FL, Bonita Beach of Portsmouth, NH, Diane and husband Joseph Shoemaker of Clemmons, NC; 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy Morrison of MA; and his favorite mother-in-law, Ruth Prescott of Dexter; several nieces and nephews. He will be always loved and forever missed. Services will be held in the Summer 2005. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 122 State Street, Augusta, ME 04330. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Dexter.
