Obituary
HOLD FUNERAL SERVICES FOR DROWNING VICTIM Funeral services for Kenneth G. Lincoln, 24, who accidentally drowned Sunday at Frenchmen's Bay, Marlboro, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Free Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Wheeler, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Dexter. The Dexter Fire Department, of which he was a member, attended in a body. The fatal accident occurred Sunday afternoon about four o'clock, when Lincoln started out on a fishing trip from a rented cottage at Raccoon Cove, Frenchmen's Bay. He was accompanied by John Godsoe of Ripley, a relative by marriage, and Godsoe's grandson, Kenneth Sargent, 13, who lives with his grandparents. The small flat-bottomed punt which the party was using tipped and capsized about 150 yards from shore, according to an estimate by Hancock County Sheriff Norman M. Dyer. Lincoln, unable to swim, drowned but Godsoe rescued his grandson and made shore with the boy. Sheriff Dyer and his deputies grappled for the body, which was recovered at about 7:30 p. m., some 150 feet off shore in 10 feet of water. Mr. and Mrs. Godsoe, their grandson and Lincoln had arrived Saturday night to spend a week's outing at the cottage. He was born in Dexter, Oct. 19, 1926, the son of Everett K. Lincoln and the late Laura (Lowell) Lincoln. He attended the Dexter schools and was a part time employee at the Dexter Woolen Mills and his father's filling station on Spring street. He is survived by his father and maternal grandfather, Ellsworth Lowell, of Waterville.
