Obituary
EDWARD FREDRICK LAFOUNTAIN DEXTER - Edward F. LaFountain, 86, died July 30, 2004 at his Grove Street residence. He was born November 21, 1917 at Salem, NH a son of Edward Thomas and Mary Ellen (Haley) LaFountain. He graduated from Haverhill [Mass.] High School and was employed for 31 years with the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1977. He served with the U. S. Army for a total of 34 years: during World War II, and with the Army Reserve from 1946 until 1977. He also served the Town of Dexter in various capacities for over 20 years. He was a communicant of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Dexter, and was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Poulliot-Seavey Post #53 American Legion, and the Shirley B. Carter Post #4298 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. In addition to his wife Geneva (Nadeau) LaFountain, he is survived by a son Alan, both of Dexter; 3 daughters, Mary Jordan of Elmira, Ontario, Carole Shelton of Dexter, and Maureen Greeley of Pittsfield, NH; 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandson. At his request, there will be no visiting hours. A Memorial Mass was celebrated August 4th at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Dexter, with the Rev. Father Raymond Morency. Interment was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 343 Gorham Road, South Portland, ME 04106. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Dexter.
