He was born April 1, 1918 in Sangerville, the son of Herbert and Mabel Luce. He was educated in Dexter schools and graduated from N. H. Fay High School in 1936. On June 6, 1941 he married Shirley Fickett. Dana retired from his own business of Dexter Flooring in 1980. He was a World War II veteran having served in England, Ireland, and in the African Invasion. He was a Past Commander of the American Legion and a 62 year member of the Penobscot Lodge #39. He was also a 50 year member of the Kora Temple Shrine. He received the Cross of Colors from the Rainbow Girls for his volunteer work in that organization. He was a member of the Dexter Fire Department. He attended the Dexter United Methodist Church, and as a younger man he helped with Youth Groups, church committees and other projects. Dana's home and family were of utmost importance to him. He and his wife Shirley enjoyed their life together, most especially with gardening, yard work and many, many cribbage games.
