Obituary	William Abbott The death of William Abbott occurred at the home of Charles Morgridge on Maple street Tuesday night, at eight o'clock, the cause of his death being old age. Mr. Abbott was born in Andover, Mass., November 13, 1837, the son of Abel and Apphia Small Abbott. He came to Dexter in early childhood with his parents, who were among the first settlers of the town. His mother, Apphia L. Small, was born in Dexter, the daughter of the first settler, Ebenezer Small, who came here in the year 1801. For many years he carried on a fish and game business, being engaged for 38 years in shipping supplies north from Norfolk, Va. Later he joined his brother, Amos P. Abbott in the fish and game business, shipping from Margaree Harbor, Cape Breton, to points south. Between three and four years ago he was obliged to give up business activities, suffering from the infirmities of old age and since then has been gradually failing. Mr. Mor- gridge has taken care of him for the past two years and has done all that was possible to make his last days pleasant. Mr. Abbott was the oldest member of Penobscot lodge F. and A. M., for 53 years a Mason, always interested in the affairs of the order until his health failed. He is survived by one brother, Amos P. Abbott. He was never married. Funeral services will be held from the Universalist church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Stanley Gates Spear officiating. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant cemetery.
