Obituary
Mrs. Elizabeth Tibbetts The death of Mrs. Elizabeth, widow of the late E. M. Tibbetts, took place at her home on Maple street Saturday, July, 18, after a lingering illness. She was the daughter of the late Samuel H. and Maria Jennings Keene, and was born in Dexter in the year of 1835 where, with the exception of a few years, she has spent her life. She was educated in the Dexter public schools and the Hartland academy. She was an active member of the Methodist church of this town, in which she was baptized in her early life. On June 20, 1858, she was married to Eben Mower Tibbetts, from which union three children were born. She was instrumental in the organization of the Woman's Literary club in 1880 and was made its first president. She was an active member of the W. C. T. U. She is survived by one son, Harry E. Tibbetts of Vanceboro, and a sister, Mrs. Crocker of lower Main street, Dexter. The funeral services were held in the Methodist Episcopal church on Tuesday afternoon, July 21. Rev. H. A. Sherman officiated.
