Eastern Gazette p.8 Mrs. Emily Porter Savage Mrs. Emily Porter Savage was born in Augusta, Maine, in 1832, the daughter of Frederick Pishon and Betsey (Porter) Pishon. Her girlhood and young womanhood was spent in that city until 1863, when she was united in marriage to Henry Knabe of Saxony, Germany, and moved to Hudson, Mass. Here Mr. Knabe died in 1874. To them were born three children, Isabelle, Fred and Annie, the latter, now Mrs. Chas. H. Wyman, being the only one living. She married for her second husband Captain Elbridge G. Savage of Solon, where she lived until the death of Mr. Savage. Twenty-one years ago she came to Dexter to make her home with her only daughter, Mrs. Wyman, and has lived here until her death, May 14. She was widely known because of her social qualities, and her wide circle of friends, both here and elsewhere, will regret to learn of her passing out. She was one who never spoke ill of anyone and who was appreciative of all that was done for her. Her life was an active one and she was never happier than when busy. For several years she has been in failing health and missed the social gatherings of which she was so fond. Genial, courteous, neighborly, she will be missed by all who knew her. She was a member of Martha Washington Rebekah lodge and a faithful member of the W. C. T. U. She was a constant attendant and loyal member of the First Universalist church of Dexter, and, in her daily living, tried to exemplify those broad principles in which she believed. She was faithfully and tenderfully cared for by her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Wyman. Funeral services were held at the late home Saturday at one o'clock, her pastor, Rev. S. G. Spear, officiating, assisted by the pastor of the Congregational church, Rev. W. M. Boaz. The remains were taken to Waterville, where interment was made in the family lot. Eastern Gazette p.1
