Obituary
David Russell Death of Brother and Sister The death of David Russell occurred on the night of January 4th at his home, after a long illness. Memorial services were held on Sunday, January 7th, Rev. E. M. Trafton officiating. Mr. Russell served in the Civil war with the famous Ninth Battery of Massachusetts. He is survived by his wife and son, also, several grandchildren and other relatives. His death occurred one hour after that of his sister, Mrs. Sophia E. Leavitt. He was the last one of his family. Services for Mr. Russell's sister, Mrs. William 0. Leavitt, were held Monday afternoon, Rev. Stanley G. Spear officiating. The brother and sister died within an hour of each other Thursday evening. Mrs. Leavitt's death occurred at 10.30 and that of her brother about 11.30 o'clock. Mrs. Leavitt's age was 87 years, 4 mos., 14 days, while Mr. Russell's age was 82 years, 8 mos. and 11 days, both being children of the late Herman and Mary Fogg Russell of Corinth. Mr. Russell has for years been a resident of Dexter. Mrs. Leavitt's home was in Corinna until after the death of her husband. Both brother and sister were possessed of strong, upright, Christian characters and have many friends in Dexter, Corinna and neighboring towns who will sincerely miss them. Mrs. Leavitt leaves two sons, Frank O. of Corinna and Geo. Leavitt of Manchester, N. H. During her last illness she was cared for by her niece, Mrs. John Williams of this town. Interment will be at Corinth in the famly lot.
