Obituary
JEFFERSON D. PALMER Jefferson D. Palmer, 85, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ray Flanders, of Costigan Sunday morning after months of failing health. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Harvey Funeral Home in Guilford, with the Rev. George J. Volz officiating. Burial was in the village cemetery in Sangerville. The bearers were Kenneth Coburn of Waltham, Mass., Roland Flanders and Stillman Hatch, both of Dexter; Harold Flanders of Bangor; Donald Ruhlin of Ware, Mass. Born in Parkman, Jan. 24, 1866, the son of Hushia and Martha Maxim Palmer, he was twice married, his first wife being Miss Marcia Ham of Cambridge. In 1892 he married Miss Jeannette Baine of Mainstream. Mr. Palmer was employed in the woolen mills of Guilford and Sangerville until he retired from active work. In early years he was a horse trainer. He was a member of the Lander District Baptist Church in Parkman, and for some years was choir leader in the Methodist Church in Sangerville. In March, 1942, Mr. and Mrs. Palmer observed their 50th wedding anniversary. Because of ill health, Mr. and Mrs. Palmer closed their home here and were spending the winter in Costigan with their daughter and son-in-law. Mr. Palmer is survived by his wife; by two daughters, Mrs. Ray Flanders of Costigan and Mrs. Clarence Hamilton of Sangerville; by two sons, Glyndon J. Palmer of Sangerville and Cecil H. Palmer of Dexter; by six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
