Obituary
Mrs. Wilbur A. Bumps The wide circle of acquaintance in Dexter and throughout this section of Maine of Dr. and Mrs. Wilbur A. Bumps, will learn with sorrow of the passing away of Mrs. Bumps at the residence on Spring street, Sunday afternoon at three o'clock. Mrs. Bumps had been seriously ill for several weeks and unconscious for the past few days, the end coming peacefully and quietly. Mrs. Wilbur A. Bumps was born in Cambridge, Maine, fifty six years ago, being the daughter of Robert T. and Lydia A. Gould. The family came to Dexter a few years later and became prominent in the town. In early life the daughter became united in marriage with Dr. Wilbur A. Bumps who had located here in Dexter after graduation from a well-known medical college, and has since established for himself a highly successful prac- tice in this section. Both Dr. and Mrs. Bumps possess a host of friends who give them high esteem and strong affection. Mrs. Bumps was devoted to the interests of the First Universalist church, being a member of the Ladies' Aid of this denomination also a member of the First Universalist Fraternal Parish. She was a valued member of Martha Washington Rebekah Lodge, No. 18, I. 0. 0. F., Wassookeag Chapter, No. 44, 0. E. S., the Woman's Literary club and had served most efficiently as an officer in the fraternities of the Eastern Star and Rebekah lodges. A lovable, devoted wife and mother, a sincere, faithful friend, ever ready to give service to those in need and persons suffering from illness, she will be sadly missed by her numerous associ- ates. Mrs. Bumps leaves a husband, Dr. Wilbur A. Bumps, two daughters, Mrs. Frank Z. Brown of Richmond, Va. and Miss Imogene Bumps of Dexter, also, a brother, W. S. Gould of Dexter, and other relatives who have the sympathy of the community in this sorrow. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at the Bumps residence, and the pastor of the First Universalist church officiated. Interment was made in Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Dexter and the bearers were S. M. Leighton, F. D. Dearth, Esq., Dr. Elmer Weymouth and Calvin Fassett.
