Obituary	Violetta R. Lyford Mrs. Violetta (Rollins) Lyford died at the home of her father, Otis W. Rollins Thursday April 29 after a short illness. Mrs. Lyford was born in Sangerville September 2 1847, the eldest daughter of Otis W. and Mary (Smith) Rollins, moving to Dexter in childhood when her parents settled on the wellknown Rollins farm. She was educated in the Dexter public schools and at the age of 16 commenced teaching which vocation she followed for some time. In December 1873 she was united in marriage with Mr. Harrison Lyford of St. Albans and their married life was passed on the farm near Corinna and the St. Albans line. Mr. Lyford died in 1905 and Mrs. Lyford came to live with her aged parents in Dexter. Here for the past ten years she has tenderly cared for them, her aged father still living and her mother preceding her to the heavenly home by only a few months. Beside the father, she leaves a daughter, Mrs. J. R. Sherburne, two sisters, Mrs. Andrew Alley of Lowell Mass., Mrs. Mary Rollins of this town and other relatives. She was a faithful attendant and beloved member of the Universalist church, deeply interested in all that pertained to its welfare. She will be greatly missed in the church, the home and the community in each of which she was always glad to be of service. Funeral services were held at the farm home Sunday May 2, her pastor, Rev. S. G. Spear conducting the service. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. Her aged father was completely prostrated at her death. Four neighbors acted as bearers and she was laid at rest in the Rollins family lot in Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
