Obituary
Mrs. O. E. Blackden's Funeral Memorial services for Mrs. Owen Blackden, whose death occurred as the result of an automobile accident, were held in Dexter, Friday forenoon at ten o'clock in the apartments of Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Cleveland at the Exchange, Hotel. Many of the friends and acquaintances of the family were present, including delegations from Martha Washington Rebekah lodge, No. 18, I. 0. 0. F., and Wassookeag chapter, No. 44, Order of the Eastern Star. The casket was banked with roses, carnations, asters, floral designs, silent tributes of affection and esteem from a host of friends. Among the floral emblems noticed were those from the Woman's Relief Corps of Presque Isle, Martha Washington lodge, I. 0. 0. F., of Dexter and Wassookeag chapter, No. 44, 0. E. S., of Dexter, former Dexter neighbors of the family. Comforting words were spoken by the pastor of the First Universalist church, the Rev. Stanley Gates Spear, who paid an eloquent tribute to Mrs. Blackden, as a devoted wife, loving mother and always a loyal friend, ever ready with kindly acts and warm sympathy when approached by those in affliction or trouble. Her untimely death comes as a distinct personal loss to many persons. The interment was made in Mt. Pleasant cemetery in the Blackden family lot, and the bearers were Edward Witham, John Morrison, George A. Dustin and Mr. Coughlin.
