Obituary
Mary Batchelder Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Batchelder were held Saturday forenoon, at ten o’clock, in the First Universalist church, the pastor of that denomination, the Rev. Stanley Gates Spear, officiating. Mrs. Batchelder had been a resident of Dexter for the past ten years, making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Arnold. Prior to coming to Dexter, she had resided in Garland, where she possessed a large number of friends, who have learned with sorrow of her passing away. Mrs. Batchelder was taken ill at the home of Miss Minnie Pratt, Mill street, two weeks ago, where she was spending a few days, the nature of her illness being a shock. About one week prior to her death she suffered a second shock, from which she failed to make any recovery. Mrs. Batchelder was a woman of sterling worth, and during her sojourn in Dexter had acquired a large circle of friends. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Arnold of Dexter, Mrs. Llewellyn Tiplady of East Corinth; two brothers, Messrs. William and Frank Rand of Dexter.
