Obituary
Mrs. Lettie A. Towle Mrs. Lettie Abbott Towle, wife of Charles G. Towle, passed away at her home on Forest St, Sunday noon after a brief illness. The deceased was a native of Dexter, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Abbott. The death of Mrs. Towle cast a gloom over her many friends, who although understanding that she could not recover were not prepared for her death at this time. Illness which developed some over a month in Bangor and later, at the Trull hos- ago caused her to consult specialists pital at Biddeford, where her trouble was pronounced incurable. Returning from Biddeford several weeks ago, she has steadily failed until death relieved her from her sufferings. Mrs. Towle won the admiration of her friends by her patient and cheerful disposition since her return from the hospital. Everything possible was done to relieve her suffering and though realizing that the end was near, she was brave and cheerful to the end. Mrs. Towle was a graduate of the Dexter High school and has passed her entire life in Dexter. She was an active member of the First Univer- salist church and its various societies besides belonging to several social clubs. She was a kind neighbor, a true wife and mother and enjoyed the highest regard and affection of an unusually large circle of friends. She is survived by her husband, and by a daughter, Miss Ruth Towle, besides her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Abbott. Funeral services were conducted from the Universalist church, Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. Stanley Gates Spear, pastor of the church, officiating. At the funeral the auditorium of the church was filled with friends, and the floral offerings were the most beautiful seen at any recent funeral in this town. The bearers were Charles Lawry of Fairfield, Taylor K. Edes, Harry E. Hale and Charles H. Wyman of this town. Among those here from out-of-town to attend the services were Mr. and Mrs. George M. Towle, and son, Kenneth of Newport, R. I.; Mrs. Thena McCrillis and Mrs. D. W. McCrillis of Newport, R. I., and Mrs. Daniel McCrillis and Mrs. Bertha Bennett of Newport, Me.
