Bethuel F. Stearns His many friends learned with regret of the sudden passing away of Bethuel F. Stearns, one of the town's prominent citizens. Mr. Stearns had not enjoyed good health for several weeks but his death came as a shock to many people. Mr. Stearns was born in Monson, June 18, 1844, and came to Dexter in 1862. He was united in marriage in the year 1867 to Miss Lizzie Brawn and to this union three daughters were born, Mrs. Delia Callahan of Milbury, Mass., ... and Mrs. Delva Hatch of Corinna, Me. After the passing away of his first wife Mr. Stearns was united in marriage to Miss Lizzie Moore, three daughters being born to this union, two of whom survive their father, Mrs. Grace Chandler of Dexter and Mrs. Gladys Sinclair of Long Island City, N. Y. Mr. Stearns also leaves two brothers, Wesley Stearns of Worcester, Mass., John Stearns of Lake View, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who have the sympathy of a host of friends in this sorrow. Mr. Stearns was a man of sterling character and highest integrity. He was a valued fraternity man being past grand of Plymouth lodge, I 0. 0. F., a member of Martha Washington Rebekah lodge, F. & A. M., Wassookeag chapter. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 2 o'clock in the First Baptist church, the pastor, Rev. R. L. Olds, officiating. Delegations of the various orders of which Mr. Stearns was a member, were in attendance and the burial service of the Odd Fellows was read. Interment was in Mount Pleasant cemetery.
