Obituary
Winfield Card Winfield Card passed away Saturday morning at the home on Spring street after an illness from diabetes, of long duration. His age was forty three years and one week and he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Card of this town. In early life he was united in marriage to Miss Maude Wakefield of Ripley, who survives him. For many years Mr. Card was employed among various markets in the town and made a host of friends and acquaintances among the people of the community who will remember him as a kind hearted good natured man of integrity and one who was well liked by all. He leaves besides the wife, one sister, Mrs. Bertha Gatchell of Beachmont, Mass. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home, on Spring street, a large number attending to pay final tribute to their deceased friend. Rev. E. M. Trafton, of the Free Baptist church spoke comforting words to the family and friends and several beautiful selections were rendered by the quartet, Rev. and Mrs. E. M. Trafton, Mrs. Bert Sawyer and Alvah Stafford. The flowers were unusually many and beautiful and completely banked the casket. The bearers were R. A. Killman, J. H. Raynor, Melvin Shaw and Leslie Curtis. Interment was made in the Card family lot at Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
