Funeral services for Mrs. Rose E. Robertson were held Thursday, May 11 at 2 oclock. Mrs. Robertson was 80 years of age April 1, and died suddenly of angina Monday afternoon. A life long resident of St. Albans, having been the daughter of Amasa and Hannah Dunlap Varney. She was highly respected and will be missed by a host of friends. Surviving are three sons, Harold, a teacher in Winchendon, Mass.; Clarence an art shop owner in Portland, and Earle, a farmer on the home place, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Two brothers, Frank Varney and Horace Varney also survive and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Robertson was an honored member of St. Albans Grange, East Somerset Pomona, the Christmas Club of St. Albans and the Helpful Workers of the church. Rev. Robert Holcomb spoke comforting words to the doubly bereaved family, as just two weeks before a grandson, Erlfred, age four and a half years, and living in the same house, had passed away. Out of town relatives attending the services were Harold Robertson of Winchendon, Mass., Mrs. Althea Bates of Massachusetts, Clarence Robertson of Portland, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Libby and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Libby of Waterville, Alton Libby of Wiscasset, Weston Sherbourne of Dexter and Miss Vira Libby of Brunswick. The many beautiful flowers were silent tribute of the high esteem in which, she was held. Bearers were three nephews, Alton, Joseph and Chester Libby and a neighbor, Earle Buker.
