Funeral Services For Mrs. Bertha E. Bennett Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha E. Bennett were held Monday afternoon at the Farnham funeral chapel with Rev. Homer Hughey, pastor of the People's Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in the family lot in Riverside cemetery. Born in Dexter, March 10, 1880, daughter of Daniel and Parthena Towle McCrillis, Mrs. Bennett attended the Dexter schools and the Girls' Latin School, Boston, Mass. In l898 she married William R. Bennett of Newport and had resided there about 50 years. A member of the People's Methodist Church she was a soloist of its choir for many years and treasurer of the WSCS. She also served as Sunday School teacher and was an accomplished pianist. Mrs. Bennett was past president of the Newport Woman's Club and a past chief of the Pythian Sisters. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Donna Bennett, Newport and several cousins. Bearers were Lewman Soper, J. 0. Gilman, Dana Banton, Douglas Libby, Carl Titconib and Ellsbury Stevens.
