Obituary
Myron Seavey Mrs. Myron Seavey received a telegram Tuesday from the War Department confirming the death of her husband, who was reported missing in action last November. The telegram read: "Mrs. Hazel E. Seavey, 55 Spring street, Dexter. The Secretary of War asks that I assure you of his deep regret in the loss of your husband, 1st Lieutenant Myron B. Seavey, who was previously reported missing in action. Reports received in the War Department establish the fact that your husband's death occurred on the 27th of November 1943. Letter follows. Dunlop, Acting Adjutant General." Memorial services will be held later, further announcements of which will be given. MEMORIAL SERVICES FOR LT. SEAVEY Memorial services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Methodist church in memory of Lt. Myron Seavey, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Seavey, Spring street. Rev. Frederick L. Niles will officiate and the American Legion and Auxiliary will attend in a body. Lt. Seavey, who was previously reported missing since November 26, 1943, has recently been announced by the War Department as having died November 27 following the bombing of his ship the day before while en route from North Africa to India. Lt. Seavey was born in Exeter December 22, 1916, but lived the greater part of his life in Dexter where he attended the public schools and was a member of the class of 1936 at N. H. Fay High school. Lt. Seavey enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1936 and was stationed in Hawaii four years before being sent back. To the States to attend Quartermasters' School in Philadelphia. After spending several months at Fort Francis E. Warren, Wyoming and at Monterez, California and following "Pearl Harbor" he was returned to Hawaii where he remained until June 1942. He received his commission as 2nd Lieutenant at the Officers' Training School at Fort Belvoir in September of that year. He served as Regimental Supply Officer at Fort Belvoir and as Battalion Supply Officer at the Dyersburg Air Base, Tennessee and at Mobile, Ala. As a first lieutenant he went to North Africa in September of last year and was on active duty with an engineering corps at an army air base. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Hazel Dugger Seavey of Dexter, formerly of Huntley, Wyoming; a little daughter, Mari-Lee; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Seavey; four sisters, Mrs. Hugh Hutchins, Dexter; Mrs. Norman Brawn, Corinna; Mrs. John Knowles and Miss Barbara Seavey, Dexter; and four brothers, J. Howard of Newport; Leon of Berwick; Calvin of Corinna and Cpl. William Seavey of the U. S. Army. (The Eastern Gazette 5-25-1944, p.1)
