Obituary
Etta Raymond Johnson The community was shocked Saturday by the death of Etta Raymond, wife of W. T. Johnson. Although Mrs. Johnson had been ill for several days with pneumonia, her condition was greatly improved and the highest hopes were entertained for her recovery. Mrs. Johnson was born in Ripley, March 24, 1848. Nearly her whole life has been spent in and around Dexter coming to North Dexter about 12 years ago, where Mr. Johnson has conducted a general store, and post office, from which Mrs. Johnson will be greatly missed. The deceased is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Blanche Foss, a grandaughter, Hazel Foss, a sister, Mrs. Abbie Farrar of Ripley, a brother, John Raymond, and niece, Addie L. Raymond of Saugus, Mass., besides several other relatives, who have the sympathy of a large circle of friends. Funeral services were conducted from the home, Tuesday forenoon at 10 o'clock, Rev. B. F. McIntire of the Universalist church officiating. The remains were placed in the receiving tomb at Mt. Pleas-ant in which cemetery interment will take place in the spring. Those from out-of-town to attend the funeral were Ernest Raymond of St. Albans and Mr. and Mrs. John Wakefield of Ripley, niece and nephew of the deceased. Among the many floral offerings was a bouquet from the Wil- ling Workers club of which her daughter is a member, and a wreath from the neighbors which shows the love they felt for one who has gone from their midst. The bearers were Elmer Robinson, Fred Dore, Jesse Nutting and Howard Thompson.
