Besides a widow, who was Miss Mattie Farrar of this town, he leaves two children, a son and a daugther by a former marriage. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made. (also: 2-24-1921, p.8) Benson A. Ellis Benson A. Ellis passed away February 9, 1921, at his home on Church street. He was born in Winslow September 20, 1852 and was the son of Charles and Melvina Ellis. He leaves a wife, Mattie Farrar Ellis, and two sisters, Mrs. Selden Crowell, of Corinna and Mrs. Addie Mason of Pawtucket, R. I., to mourn their loss. He was a charter member and Past Chancellor Commander of Bedivere lodge, K. of P., No. 29, and also an interested and constant attendant of the Methodist church and was held in high esteem by his many friends. Mr. Ellis was a machinist by trade, having worked in past years in the Fay & Scott machine shops of this town, also in Portland and Providence, R. I. He returned to Dexter and was working in the Fay & Scott machine shop at the time he was taken sick. He suffered a severe shock in August 1919 and never fully recovered, and although a very active and industrious person was very patient and interested and glad to welcome his friends. The funeral was held at his home February 12, Rev. F. Ernest Smith speaking words of comfort. J. Willis Crosby, Harry J. Weymouth, Luman C. Shepherd and L. J. Folsom were the bearers.
