Obituary
Joseph Jacques Joseph Jacques of this town passed away December 15, at the age of 53 years, 1 month and 17 days, after a long illness and much suffering. He was confined to his bed, unable to sit up at all for over ten months. He was cared for by his wife, and everything was done for his comfort. All the children were by his bedside, also his son-in-law, Harold Cousins, and mother-in-law, Mrs. Mary Pooler. Mr. Jacques was a respected citizen and will be greatly missed by those who knew him. Funeral services were held at St. Ann's Catholic church December 18, and attended by a large number of relatives and friends. The service was sung by two great singers of Augusta, Mr. Treffle Gilbert and Mr. Joseph R. Gilbert, and Charles O. Clukey, Harrison Clukey, Thomas Groleau, Mrs. Annie Giles Clukey, Mrs. Lucy Groleau Anaire, with Mrs. Nellie Ganeau as organist. Rev. T. C. Maney officiated. Those from out of town to attend the funeral were his mother and brother of Hallowell, Mr. Treffle Gilbert and Joseph H. Gilbert and Odilon Cloutier of Augusta. The bearers were John Dyer, Fred Dyer, Eddie Dyer, Harry Dyer, Harry Clukey, Joe Clukey, all cousins of the deceased. The remains were placed in the receiving tomb at Mt. Pleasant cemetery. He leaves besides his wife, five children, Mrs. Nora Cousins, Mrs. Joseph Gilbert, Evangeliste Jacques, Robert Jacques and Maxime Jacques, besides other relatives.
