Obituary
Carroll Mower Carroll Mower, a respected resident, of this town died at his home on High street, Friday afternoon following a brief illness from pneumonia. The deceased had been in his usual health until Monday when he was taken ill and in spite of all that skilled physicians and nurses could do, the end came Friday morning. For many years Mr. Mower was a prominent farmer owning and operating a large farm on the Ripley road now owned by Hanford B. Crouse. Several years ago he sold the farm to Mr. Crouse and retired from active business, making his home in this village. The deceased was a member of the First Baptist church in which he has, long taken an active interest. He was a man of sterling character and had many friends who deeply regret his sudden passing. Besides a widow he is survived by two sons, Kenneth and Clyde Mower, a brother, Parker Mower and two sisters, Misses Ella and Josephine Mower, all of this town. Funeral services were conducted from the First Baptist church at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. R. L. Olds, formerly pastor of the church officiating, assisted by Rev. C. D. Hazelton, the present pastor. The services were largely attended by the family and the many friends of the deceased and there was a profusion of flowers bearing silent testimony to the high esteem in which the deceased was held. The pallbearers were Wilson P. Hamilton, Nathan Daggett, Alex Henlerson and Elmer Additon. Joseph K. Springall officiated at the organ. Interment war in Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
