Obituary
Ann C. Puffer In the passing of Ann C. Puffer of Dexter, her family and many friends have lost a member of their circle whose place cannot be filled. Ann C. Rand was born July 25, 1842 in St. Albans, Maine, the, daughter of William and Elizabeth Rand; she was one of a family of five, four daughters and one son. On Nov. 22nd, 1862, she was united in marriage to Jacob Puffer of Dexter, moving to the Puffer home, where she spent the remainder of her life. Soon after her marriage she became associated with the Christian church and her life was one continuous example of its teachings. She was an energetic worker, a good home maker and a good mother. Two daughters were born, Ida, who passed to the Home beyond, and Clara, (Mrs. M. P. Leggett) who after the death of the father and husband, Jacob Puffer was able to follow her regular a companion and help to the mother. Though in her 81st year, Mrs. Puffer was able to follow her regular routine of work until about three weeks prior to her death which oc- curred on Sept. 29th, 1922. Though a slight shock confined her to her bed, she still retained her usual jovial ways; she was able to realize the many little comforts brought to her by her friends and appreciated the never ceasing care given by the daughter and Mrs. Harriet Hobbs, a niece. Memorial services were held Sunday, Oct. lst, under the direction of Rev. P. Ernest Smith of the M. E. church. Interment was at the family lot at Mt. Pleasant cemetery, the body being carried to its last resting place by her old friends and neighbors, Charles Spooner, Alba French, Joseph Burnard and Charles Stone.
