Obituary	Mrs. Sarah Swanton The community was saddened Wednesday morning by news of the death of Mrs. Sarah Swanton, one of Dexter's oldest and best beloved citizens. She was 95 years of age last April, and but for a fall which resulted in her death, might have lived several years longer. She has been tenderly cared for for many years by her daughter, Mrs. Charles Bean at whose home she died. Mrs. Sarah Swanton was born in Bath, Me., April 28, 1828, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry H. Swanton. She passed a part of her childhood in Windsor and Bangor, coming to Dexter when quite a young girl, where she received her education and married John H. Swanton of this town in 1847. Soon after their marriage they moved to Bangor, where a son was born, Frank Swanton, now of Lowell, Mass. Returning to Dexter 58 years ago, Mr. Swanton entered business and remained here until his death 24 years ago. Mrs. Swanton had been a woman much devoted to her home and aside from church activities had lived a very quiet life, not given to society, but a most cordial hostess and helpful friend and neighbor. "To know her was to love her, to name her was to praise.” The deceased was a Baptist by belief, having joined a Baptist church in New York City, and later uniting with the Dexter Baptist church from which the funeral services will beheld Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Besides the son and daughter already mentioned, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Henry Dexter of Dexter and Mrs. Georgia Drew of Guilford.
