Obituary
DEXTER MAN DROWNED Fred Lahey Tipped from Canoe at Frost Pond and Drowned Last Friday morning a party of four Dexter men, Henry Pullyord, Timothy Pullyord, William Lahey and Fred Lahey went to Frost pond about three miles from Ripogenus dam on a week-end fishing trip. Saturday morning about two o'clock Fred Lahey rose and without disturbing the rest of the party, placed his fishing tackle in a canoe and went out on the pond. At four o'clock when his friends stepped outside the tent and looked over the lake they saw a canoe floating bottom up a few rods from shore and a little later Lahey's hat was found floating. After three days' search the body was found about 9.30 Tuesday morning. The anchor rope was clenched in the right hand but whether or not the rope had been wound around the hand could not be determined. There was very little water in his lungs and Mr. Labey was known to have been bothered for a long time with heart trouble. The deceased was thirty-five years of age. He leaves a wife, Emma (Cleaves) Lahey, five small children and several brothers and sisters. His former home was in Millinocket where his family is well known and prominent. Funeral services were held this morning at nine o'clock from St. Anne's Catholic church and the burial was in Mount Pleasant cemetery.
