Obituary
Death of Mrs. Whitcomb Friends of Mrs. Averick Whitcomb were grieved to learn of her sudden death Wednesday morning, May 23, at 3 o'clock after only a few days' illness. Mrs. Whitcomb was born in this town 78 years ago in the house in which she died. She was the widow of Royal E. Whitcomb and the greater part of her married life was spent in New Haven, Conn. Since her husband's death she has passed most of her time in her native town. Three sisters survive her, Miss Susan Winslow and Miss M. Olive Winslow of this town and Mrs. Abbie Hanscom of Auburndale, Mass. Mrs. Hanscom arrived here before her sister's death; also a niece, Mrs. Arthur L. Herbert of Auburn. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 from the home on Spring street, Miss Mildred Thomas, pastor of the Free Baptist church officiating. There were many beautiful floral offerings. The bearers were J. Willis Crosby, A. L. Davis, Bert L. Call and Galen R, Ramsay. Interment was at Mount Pleasant cemetery. Mrs. Whitcomb joined the Episcopal church many years ago and was a faithful attendant at the Church of the Messiah when services have been held in this town. She leaves many friends to regret her death and the family has the sympathy of the community.
