Obituary
Mrs. Ellen Bates Mower Mrs. Ellen B. Mower, widow of the late H. G. Mower, passed away very quietly Monday afternoon at 5.30 o'clock at her home on Spring street at the age of 90 years. She had been ill only a short time. Mrs. Mower was one of the oldest and most respected residents of Dexter. Her beautiful personality won for her a large circle of friends, who all feel that they are the better for enjoying her friendship. For many years she had suffered severely with rheumatism and not one word of complaint ever left her lips. She had a smile for everyone and numbered young and old as her friends, to many of whom she was affectionately known as "Aunt Ellen." Years ago Mrs. Mower and her husband, both of whom had exceptional musical talent conducted singing schools in this section of the state. She was a valued member of the First Baptist church and until lameness came upon her, was a regular attendant. Funeral services were held from the home this morning the Rev. Irving B. Mower, D. D. of Waterville officiating. She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Fessenden, Miss Julia Bates and Miss Lillian Bates, all of Waterville.
