Obituary
Mrs. Mary Cony Twitchell Mrs. Twitchell, whose home was in Dexter many years, passed away February 10th. She was born in Exeter Sept. 5, 1843, the daughter of Stephen A. and Mary Pratt Berry. She was one of seven children, three brothers of whom, together with the father, served in the Civil war. She lost her mother, two brothers and a sister in the same year. One brother, Thomas Berry, alone survives. In 1873 she was married to Orrin Willey Twitchell of Dover. Two children were born, one dying in childhood. With the other, Mrs. Bertha Warman, she made her home the past sixteen years, where she was given all the care and devotion of an affectionate daughter. She was an earnest and loyal member of the Free Baptist church, uniting first with the church in Garland, later in Dexter, and was an appeciated white-ribboner from the earl y days of this organization. Of a rich, emotional temperament she was strong, warm-hearted and faithful in her friendships, and friends she had many. She was intensely patriotic, a lover of nature and a wide-ranging reader, possessing no small talent of her own in both prose and verse. Services were conducted at the home of Miss Mildred Thomas, pastor of the Free Baptist church. The bearers were, W. A. Hasketh, M. H. Hurd, L. H. Folsom, C. G. Chandler.
