Obituary
Alfred L. Abbott The many friends of Alfred L. Abbott of New York City, formerly of Dexter, will be pained to hear of his death which occurred at his home at 2620 Briggs avenue, Thursday, Jan. 11th after a long and painful illness. The deceased was born in Portland, Maine and was fifty years old. He came to Dexter about twentyseven years ago, living here for several years, having charge of the old power house at Libby's Mills and was also an employee of the Portland Packing Co., leaving here for Boston and later, New York, where he has resided for the past three years. Mr. Abbott was a man of very fine character and genial disposition, much respected and liked by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Idella Champeon of Dexter, two daughters, Bernice P. Abbott and Mrs. Henry Taylor of New York, his mother, several brothers and sisters, and a host of friends who sympathize with the family in their bereavement. The remains arrived in Dexter on the 5.40 train Saturady night, accompanied by Mrs. Abbott and daughter and were taken to the home of L. C. Pulcipher, where funeral services were held Sunday at one o'clock, Rev. F. Ernest Smith of the Methodist church officiating. The remains were placed in the receiving tomb at Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
