Obituary	Mrs. Amanda F. Abbott The death of Mrs. Amanda Field Abbott, widow of the late Job Abbott of this town, occurred at her home on Church street Saturday, after a long period of failing health, at the age of 86 years. The deceased was born in Carmel, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Field of that town. At the age of 16 years she came to Dexter as the bride of the late Job Abbott, the pioneer woolen manufacturer of this town, whose death occurred in 1903. Mrs. Abbott was a faithful member of the First Universalist church of this town and has been interested in philanthropic and charitable work. She was also a generous and interested member of the W. C. T. U. Mrs. Abbott is survived by one son, Arthur P. Abbott, of this town and by a daughter, Mrs. Helen Abbott Bucknam, who has most tenderly cared for her mother in the home which they occupied together. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home on Church street, Rev. Stanley Gates Spear, pastor of the First Universalist church of Roxbury, Mass., and a former pastor of the local church officiating, assisted by Rev. Wm. Garner, pastor of the First Universalist church of Dexter. The bearers were Messrs. Charles G. Towle, Fred W. Barker, Bert Bailey and Thomas A. Smart. The services were attended by many friends and neighbors and there was a profusion of floral offerings, bearing silent testimony of the high esteem in which the deceased was held. Interment was in Elmwood cemetery.
