Obituary
Corydon P. Gilman Friends in this town of Corydon P. Gilman are sorry to learn of his death Saturday night at the home of his son, John Gilman, in Waterville, where he went about ten days ago from Dexter. He had made his home here for the past two years with his sister, the late Mrs. Grace Brewster, and since her death with his niece, Mrs. L. H. Whitney. He had been ill only a few days but his condition was considered serious Saturday and Mr. Whitney went to Waterville, arriving there before his death. The remains were brought to Dexter and funeral services held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Whitney on Highland avenue Tuesday forenoon at 10 o'clock. Rev. Annie Lee Ridgway of this town officiated and the bearers were Messrs William J. Haseltine, James Armitt, John Jackson and Melvin P. Leggett. The Masonic services were conducted under the auspics of Penobscot lodge, F. and A. M., of this town. There was a profusion of flowers from relatives and friends. Among those from out of town to attend the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. John W. Gilman and J. W. Gilman of Waterville, Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Gilman of Dover-Foxcroft and Miss Bessie Gilman of Rochester, N. Y. Interment was at Mount Pleasant cemetery. Mr. Gilman was born in Sangerville 72 years ago and has lived in Sangerville, Waterville and Dexter. Besides his son, John Gilman, in whose home he died, he is survived by two brothers, Prentiss Gilman of Dover-Foxcroft and George Gilman of St. Francis, Minn.
