Obituary
Mrs. Nellie Austin The many, friends of Mrs. Nellie C. Austin, wife of W. D. Austin, were shocked to learn of her sudden death which occurred at her home on Church street early Tuesday morning. Mrs. Austin had not been in good health for some time, but had apparently recovered and was about as usual Monday, in the afternoon going to the home of a friend to call. Mrs. Austin was born in Whitefield February 20, 1853, the daughter of Mary and Alphonso Crowell, coming with her parents as a child to Corinna where she lived until a young woman, when she came to Dexter, where she was united in marriage to Charles Dexter, who died later. By this marriage Mrs. Austin is survived by two children, one daughter, Mrs. Maude Parkman of French's Mills and one son, Harry Dexter of Bangor. Thirty years ago the deceased was married to W. D. Austin of this town and has resided here ever since, where she has a host of friends who will mourn her passing. The deceased was a member of the R. F. Safford Relief Corps, Dexter Grange and the First Congregational church, in all of which she was an active worker. Besides her husband, W. D. Austin, the survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Fred Parkman, of French's Mills, one son, Harry Dexter, of Bangor, four sisters, Mrs. Abbie Rowell, of Bangor, Mrs. Lizzie Deering of Harmony, Mrs. Ada Bickford of Newport and Mrs. Ennie Bailey of Freeport; one brother, George Crowell, of Corinna. Funeral services were conducted from the Congregational church this afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Francis Barr Allan officiating.
