Obituary	JUSTIN BATES Funeral for Justin Bates, 73, were held May 20 at the Crosby funeral home with the Rev. T. A. Webb, pastor of the First Universalist Church, officiating. Bearers were Donald Brown, Glen Arno, Elmer Easler, all of Dexter, and Herbert Harrington of Guilford. Interment was in Mt. Pleasant cemetery. Mr. Bates died at the home of his son, Clarence, on the Cambridge road, where he had been since May 1, after leaving the local hospital. He had been ill for some time. He was born in Sangerville, July 24, 1875, the son of John A. and Romilla (Campbell) Bates. A resident of this town for 30 years, he operated a grocery business on Main street and later on Grove street. His last store on Spring street was purchased 10 years ago by Donald Brown when he retired due to ill health. Surviving are a son, Clarence, and seven grandchildren.
