Obituary	JAMES EDWARD "EDDIE" CLUKEY DEXTER—James Edward ‘Eddie’ Clukey, 94, died May 23, 2004 at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home after a brief illness. He was born April 6, 1910 at Dexter a son of James P. and Eva M. (Ronco) Clukey. He attended Dexter schools and together with his brother joined their father working in area logging camps, woolen mills, and on the homestead in Garland. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. For a while, he boxed in the Lewiston and Auburn area. After his marriage to Jessie (Murray) Clukey, he worked in Greenville, logging, guiding, and at the plywood mill, until they moved to Ashland, MA in 1953. In 1958, his family returned to Dexter where he was employed at Fay Scott, Dexter Shoe Company and the Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna until ill health forced his retirement. He was often heard saying, “I have been a jack of all trades and master of none.” His faith and family were a great comfort to him. Ed was an avid fisherman, gardener and Bingo player. His happiest times were spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was known as “PePe” to all of his family. James was a communicant of the St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Dexter. While living at the Dexter Boarding Home since his 91st birthday, he looked forward to visits from Tom Ronco, who brought him parish news and communion. He is survived by his daughter, Waynetta and special son-in-law Francis Chabot; his son, Urban (Bun) and wife Janice Clukey all of Exeter; a daughter-in-law, Sally Clukey of Baileyville; grandsons, Daniel and wife Angela Chabot of VA, James and wife Tara Chabot of Dexter, Terrance Chabot of Dexter, William of Orono, David Clukey of Garland, Derrick Clukey of Exeter, Jeffery of Bangor and Anthony of Kennebunkport; granddaughters, Melissa and Tammy Beam of Garland; several great grandchildren; a sister, Ella and husband Gill Prevost of Madison; brother-in-law, Roy and wife Betty Murray of Albion; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 4 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 infant sons, his wife in 1978, and a son, Terrance in 2003. Friends and family may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday, May 27, 2004 at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main Street, Dexter. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home 7 P.M. Thursday with the Rev. Fr. Raymond Morency officiating. Burial and committal prayers will be held at 9:15 a.m. Friday, May 28th, at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter.
