Obituary	HUGH W. ATWATER DEXTER - Hugh W. Atwater, 93, husband of Pauline (Dyer) Atwater, died August 3, 1995 at the Sanfield Living Center in Hartland. He was born July 25, 1902 in Sangerville, the son of J. Edgar and Eva (Sanborn) Atwater. He and Pauline were married in 1926 and he spent most of his life in Dexter. He was known as "Pumpa" to his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with his family which he considered above all. In addition to his family, most of his life was dedicated to working as a spinner in local woolen mills. As an avid sportsman, his greatest passion was hunting and fishing. Much of his life was spent on, what he referred to as the "old 10." A resident of Dexter until 1971, he and his wife Pauline retired to West Palm Beach, Florida, where he built a new family home. Both he and his wife resided in West Palm Beach until 1990, when they decided they would return home to family and friends in Dexter. As a loyal husband, a respected citizen, a good friend, and a loving father and grandfather, he will be missed by all. Surviving in addition to his wife of 69 years are two daughters, Viola Richards of Dexter and Jacquelyn Gillie Brann of Corinna; several grandchildren, Jeffrey Nicholas, Jonathan Nicholas and Sharon Matthes, all of West Palm Beach, Fla., Marsha Wyman, Peter Nicholas Sr. and Kelly Quimby, all of Dexter and Robert Morey of Milo; eleven great grandchildren, Greg Nicholas, Jason Nicholas, Stephanie (Nicholas) Beck, Chance Wyman, Melodie (Nicholas) Dow, Peter Nicholas, Jr., Michael Quimby, Amanda Morey, Benjamin Morey, Heather (Morey) Stewart and Jessica Morey; three great great grandchildren, AshLee Stewart, Terrance Stewart and Nokomis Beck; three brothers, Robert and Roland Atwater, both of Dexter and Maurice Atwater of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, Julia Roberts of Corinna, Wilda Bridgon of Portland and Imogen Cameron of Dexter. Friends called at the Thompson Funeral Home, Pleasant St., Corinna August 7. A graveside memorial service was held at Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Dexter, August 10 with Rev. Bruce Hudson of the Corinna United Methodist Church officiating. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to the Sanfield Living Center Hospitality Committee, P.O.
