Miss Edith M. Olds Friends of Miss Edith M. Olds were saddened Saturday afternoon by the news of her death at her home in this town, after a year of failing health and confinement to her home since October of last year. She was born in Mendota, Ill., Nov. 17, 1877, the daughter of Rev. Rinaldo L. Olds and Martha Erskine Olds. Coming to New England later she has lived with her parents in Dover, N. H., in, Newport and Ludlow, Vt., in Blue Hill and has resided in this town since 1910, where she has made hosts of friends, who mourn her death. The deceased is survived by one brother, Marshall K. Olds, of Jacksonville, Fla., a sister-in-law, Mrs. May Olds, of Boston, who came two weeks ago to be with her during her serious illness, and a niece, Miss Edith R. Olds, who has made her home with her in Dexter ever since she came here, 16 years ago. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist church here, of which her father was for several years pastor, a member of Rebecca Weston Chapter, D. A. R., and of the local Woman's Christian Temperance Union, Miss Olds was a woman of deep culture and refinement, deeply loved and respected by all who knew her. Funeral services were held Monday forenoon at 10 o'clock from the First Baptist church. Rev. C. D. Hazelton officiating. The bearers were Clarence N. Pierce, Theodore H. Haseltine, Elton Percival and Leonard Packard. The remains were taken to Blue Hill for burial.
