Obituary
Three Year Old Child Drowned in Lake Wassookeag A sad accident occurred here at about 11 o'clock Saturday morning, when Pauline, the three-year-old child of Mr. and Mrs. Errol Nutting on Grove street was drowned in the lower lake. The child was missed by her mother, soon after 11 o'clock and when failing to locate her she called for help. Boats were put out and in a very short time Hershel Williams, with bathing suit on dove and found the child in about five feet of water. It is thought that Pauline, in playing in the rear of her home, crawled out on the rocks, slipped and fell into the water. First aid was used by Eldridge Herrick, until the arrival of Dr. Walter J. Hammond, but they were not able to resuscitate the child. Funeral services were held at the home on Grove street Monday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. W, H. Johnson of the First Baptist church spoke words of comfort to the bereaved family. Too soon it seemed to their heavy hearts their darling was taken from them, but God knows best and now they have only a memory of waxen hands clasped softly over rose buds, fit emblems of the baby soul. There were many beautiful flowers, attesting to the love of many friends. Albert Dinsmore, Eldridge Herrick, Hershel Williams and Roy Nutting acted as bearers, burial being in the family lot in Mt. Pleasant cemetery. Little Pauline was born in Corinna, August 21, 1925, a sweet and lovable child, adored by her parents and grandparents. She will be sadl missed by her little playmates, especially Darrel Dinsmore, who has been her constant companion for the four short years of her life. Left beside her parents are one sister, Dorothy, aged 2 years. The family has the heartfelt sympathy of many friends in their sudden bereavement.
