Obituary
Mrs. Sarah Cloutier The many friends of Mrs. Sarah Cloutier were grieved to learn of her death which occurred at her home on Pleasant street Saturday night at 9.10 o'clock after an illness of two months suffering from a malignant trouble. During her illness she was a patient sufferer and was ever cheerful. Mrs. Clukey has been a woman of sterling character and a great home maker, who will be sadly missed by a wide circle of friends. The deceased was born in St. Victor, Province of Quebec, March 20th, 1854. At the age of 11 years she came to Dexter, but after a few years returned to St. Victor, Quebec, where she remained until she was married. Her next trip to Dexter was made with her husband in a two wheeled gig and over half the distance was made on foot through Maine's then densely wooded sections. The greater part of her life was spent, however, in Dexter. Here she raised her children, working always with their interests at heart. Mrs. Cloutier had been married 56 years at the time of her golden wedding. She and her husband entertained at an informal reception many old friends. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic church, St. Ann's Good Will Society and St. Ann's Altar Society of this town. Besides her husband, Charles B. Cloutier, she leaves to mourn her passing four sons, Charles O., Frank W., Ernest and Edward E. Cloutier, all of this town, and three daughters, Mrs. Maude Ronco and Mrs. Olive Dyer of Dexter and Mrs. Grace Connors of Winchendon, Mass., a grandson, Nathan Pease, whom she has brought up from babyhood, three brothers, Victor J. and Joseph Cloutier of Dexter and Octave Cloutier, of St. Victor, Quebec. Sev- eral grandchildren also survive. High mass was celebrated Wednesday morning at nine o'clock from St. Ann's church, Rev. Fr. Patrick Hayes Officiating, assisted by Rev. Fr. Maurice Boland of Dover-Foxcroft and Rev. Fr. M. L. Ballou of Pittsfield.
