CHARLES C. He was found dead in his room at The Windsor hotel, Bangor at 3 P. M. Wednesday, death being due to natural causes. Mr. Palmer registered at the hotel Monday morning, being in uniform at the time and appearing in his usual health. He had gone to Bangor to assist at the branch automobile registration office during the New Year's rush for license plates. He was not again seen alive. On Wednesday when the chambermaid could not gain entrance to his room, the matter was reported and the door opened Mr. Palmer being found lying on his back on the floor, dressed in civilian's clothes, the coat having been removed. Dr. H. J. Milliken, county medical examiner, was called for an investigation. Natural causes were given as cause of death. It is understood that Mr. Palmer was subject to severe spells of indigestion affecting him seriously. He had been dead about 24 hours. Mr. Palmer was born in Bar Harbor 45 years ago and had been a resident of Dexter for the past 25 years. He started in newspaper work and was a representative of the Bangor Daily Commercial in the towns of Dexter and Dover-Foxcroft. He was also local representative for the Boston Globe, Portland Press Herald and Associated Press. He was an inspector for the state highway commission since the organization of the highway police, being the oldest man in point of service in the department. He was a member of Penobscot lodge, F. & A. M. Mr. Palmer is survived by his wife, Mrs. Georgia Young Palmer of this town, three sons, Ensign Robie Palmer on the U. S. S. Minnesota now in Pacific waters, Donald and Roscoe of Dexter; a brother, Robie, located in California, and a sister, whose residance is not known. Levi R.
