Obituary	Mrs. Emma S. McCrillis Mrs. Emma Snow McCrillis, widow of the late Charles P. McCrillis, passed away Sept. lst, after an illness of about ten days. She had been in failing health for several years but was able a few weeks ago to go to Ocean Park for an outing and was taken suddenly ill soon after her return. The deceased was born in Winn in 1849, the daughter of Josiah Eliza Stratton Snow. She attended the public schools of Winn and Matta- wamkeag, later living for a time in Orono and coming to Dexter the year before her marriage to Charles P. McCrillis in 1874. Mr. McCrillis was for 53 years a dealer in groceries and feed, until his death in 1923. Mrs. McCrillis was the last of six children and is survived by one daughter, Miss Genieve McCrillis, who has devotedly cared for her during her failing health. She has been a faithful and active member of the First Universalist church of this town for many years, and of the Ladies' Aid and Mission Circle of the church. Until failing health prevented, she was a teacher in the Sunday school. She was also an interested member of Rebekah Weston Chapter, D. A. R., and of the Dex- ter Woman's Literary club. No one could be more devoted to her home than Mrs. McCrillis has been, more fond of entertaining or more hospitable. She will be deeply missed by a host of friends and neighbors. The daughter has the sympathy of many friends throughout New England, where the family is widely known. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the home on Pleasant street, Rev. Stanley Gates Spear of Roxbury, Mass., officiating.
